Blog Submissions

Oh, hey there sister. 👋

Welcome to Global Sisterhood’s blog submission guidelines. We’re excited you want to write for us. Here, we’ll get into what makes a good Dear Moon story, how you can submit your pieces, and more.
Heads up: Please read this full page before submitting a draft.

What’s the whole point of Global Sisterhood?

Global Sisterhood is a sanctuary for women on the path of self-discovery.

We teach women how to awaken their feminine power. We help women shed the mental and emotional conditioning that has kept many of us undervaluing our worth and abilities.

Women discover their strengths and wisdom through our worldwide movement of Sister Circles, our transformational programs, and leadership trainings.

Our blog, Dear Moon is meant to give women conscious solutions for everyday problems women face. We want readers to feel less alone in their struggles, more accepting of themselves, and more capable as they move forward.

Why you want to write for Global Sisterhood.

Sister,
this is an incredible opportunity, and one that will only happen ONCE because this is the very beginning of our blog (Whoop!)  As a founding contributor, your voice will drive the culture we create on our blog and your content will be engraved into our foundation. Our goal is to uncover female wisdom from the far reaches of the Earth, and we are starting with you.

Your voice will be heard! We have a community of 150,000 women around the world participating in Sisters Circles, engaging with our online content, and in our Facebook group (we have one of the most active groups). Our Instagram is growing like crazy, with over 500 new followers a week.

When you post a blog we will be featuring it in our newsletters, on our website, and through our social channels. We hope that in exchange you will share your stories with your friends and audiences as well!

What makes a good Global Sisterhood story?

Big picture:

  • It’s relatable (via personal examples/imagined examples)

  • Vulnerable (via personal narrative)

  • Fresh (via new tactics and unique perspectives on evergreen ideas)

  • Trustworthy (via research-backed nuggets)

  • Empathetic (considerate of various social/political/religious beliefs)
Deep (we talk about the mysteries, trials, and solutions to life)

  • Easy to understand and put into action ASAP (via structure and tips)

What kind of things do you talk about on Global Sisterhood?

Posts should cover one or some of these topics: self-growth, relationships, sexuality, healing, mindfulness, spirituality, conscious solution to everyday problems women face, feminism, motherhood, moon magic vibes (astrology, rituals, spiritual modalities) conscious female perspectives of current events.

What kind of stories are you looking for?

Buckle up…

Surprising solutions:  Ancient wisdom for the modern woman. We want to offer the reader a modern approach to age-old challenges. What are rituals, modalities or lost arts that you can share. How can what you write be accessible, doable, and unique?

New tactics based on recent studies: We like to fill a space where woo-woo meets science. We want to keep our readers informed about fresh research and how it has a place in their own lives, and we’re looking for stories that do just that. One example: Science-backed ways to heal your ancestral trauma

Personal essays: From learning how to love your body after motherhood, improve your sex life, or lead a conscious feminine business, we want to know how you navigate the world based on your own experiences.

Punchy reminders: We’re not here for empty platitudes (ex. ‘You’re exactly where you need to be’ or ‘good vibes only’), but we are here for affirmations that feel fresh and are presented in a punchy way, like 11 Signs That You’re Spiritually Bi-passing

Current events & pop culture through the lens of the awakening woman: The emotional toll of family separation at the border, Lizzo’s booty popping and how that is fueling self-love—whatever it may be, analyzing pop culture and politics through the lens of self-care and emotional health is always interesting to us.

New terms: From ‘SHARE’ (Sexual Health, Availability, Relationship Expectations) to FOND (Fear of Not Doing), we’re all about discussing or creating new terms that encapsulate a relatable experience or emotion.

Contrarian takes on mainstream spirituality, self-care, or feminism: Example: How you are doing self-care wrong. Or “Why going to Burning Man does not mean you are spiritual”  Things that lean into the nuances of something in away that makes it not always “good vibes only,” and so much more

I Tried Its: Have you ever embarked on a week-long adventure trying to implement something in your own life? We want to hear about it! Whether it was a gratitude journal for 30 days, working the shaman to heal your ancestry,  a polyamorous relationship, or healing from trauma, we’re down to show our readers what exactly it was like trying a new technique.

Dispatches from therapy & coffee chats: Our therapists and friends have a way of summarizing a lot of our feels into beautiful, understandable nuggets of wisdom. Tell us about that statement your therapist. spiritual teachers, or healers made that you still think about—or that epiphany you got to with the help of your partner or BFF.

Okay, but what should these stories look like?

Great question. Short answer: They can look like…anything. Long answer: We’re looking for personal essays, informational pieces with new tactics broken out as headers (with some personal anecdotes sprinkled in), informational lists that break down how to deal with X (maybe it’s an emotion, a challenge, or a specific situation). But we’re also open to other story format ideas (photo essay, anyone?) and would love to hear what you’ve got!

As far as word length goes, the sweet spot we’ve seen work is 750 words, but we can work with a minimum of 700 words and maximum of 1250.

What are the things I should keep in mind when I’m writing for Global Sisterhood:

  • Can someone do something immediately actionable after reading this?

  • Am I offering something new or insightful that doesn’t already live on the Interwebs?

  • Is it accessible—meaning someone doesn’t have to drop serious coin to do what I'm recommending?

  • Is this credible? For stories that aren’t personal essays, we’ll be looking for a research nugget or fact from a credible outside source to reinforce your piece.

  • Does it fit in the Global Sisterhood voice? (Think: the upbeat voice of a trusted sister, a truth-telling, wise,  compassionate but take no-shit type of voice from a life enthusiast who is accountable, does her inner work, cries, screams, laughs, plays … and gets down and dirty with the realness of what’s she feeling. )

  • Has this been published before? We’re looking for pieces that haven’t been published elsewhere!

Who’s the Global Sisterhood audience?

Our audience is womxn who are seeking. They are at a turning point in their life and they’re seeking anything from healing, confidence,  freedom, self-love, and advice as they navigate their lives and rise into their power. They are women who are awakening to something bigger than themselves. They are sensitive and care deeply. They need the tools, sisterhood, and accountability to transform their lives. They want woo, but they live in the real world and want to thrive within it, too. They crave vulnerability and real connection, and also could benefit from an awesome party where they danced all night and laughed their asses off.
