Dear Seeker,

How do you allow the old within you to die to be reborn?

How do you gracefully compost the parts of yourself burdened by pain, uncertainty, and doubt?

How do you transform magnificently and easefully rather than desperately grasping onto the sabotaging ego-identities created through your wounds?

How do you free yourself from the self-imposed cage and undergo a metamorphosis so profound that all those you encounter are ignited by the new light that shines through your eyes?

The answer isn’t easily found in self-help books…

And it cannot easily be found in the paradigm of Western culture…

The answer lies deep in the hearts of humble wisdom keepers who live in sacred union with Mother Earth.

It is found within the magic of the Amazon Rainforest.

If you are genuine of heart and ready to heal, the profound wisdom of the Spirit of Transformation can be passed through the teachings and spiritual practices of the Yawananwá people.

Their spiritual initiations transform more than just the mind.

They transform the soul.

About our Indigenous Teachers and Guides

This is a blessed opportunity to work with these leaders. Never before have they live-streamed a course of this nature from their village of Mutum. This is also the first collaboration of this nature. We are not sure if an opportunity as potent as this one will ever come again.

Hushashu Yawanawá

Kenewma Yawanawá

This is a special moment to gather in this sacred circle and learn from female leaders who have paved the way for women around the world and in turn, liberated patriarchal heritage in their communities.

Firstly, Hushahu is a female pioneer of her people and a spiritual leader who is humble and wise. She is an inspiration to many men and women around the world.

In order to better understand what she transmuted, it is important to know that until Hushahu entered into the year-long diet of the Muka (a sacred diet that grants you the ability to heal yourself and others), women were not able to participate in spiritual ceremonies or drink their sacred plant medicines.

When it came to spirituality, women were left out of the equation.

This all changed in 2005, when under the guidance of Pajé Tata and the care of the first female Chief Mariazinha (Kenewma’s mother), embarked on the diet.

And in truth, this diet is very serious and requires the utmost discipline. It is one of the strongest initiations of the Yawanawá people, and not for the faint of heart.

The completion of her year-long diet marks a great milestone for the Yawanawá people because since then, there has been a great cultural revolution of rebalancing amongst the gender roles in their villages.

Today, the women not only participate in ceremonies using their sacred medicines, they have become an integral part of the spiritual heart of their culture.

Along with this cultural revolution, Hushahu also received visions inside of her diet which she materialised through her art.

The kenes (patterns) that Hushahu brought back from her diet form the Yawanawá art as it is known today within their beadwork and other art forms as well. This has been recognised around the world giving many families an opportunity to both work and earn inside their own culture. Today various tribes around Brazil use the designs that Hushahu brought in their art.

Hushahu has since dedicated her time and energy to being a teacher and traveling around the world healing and supporting the men and women of her community.

In 2012 she assisted Kenewma, the first female youth to enter into the diet of Muka. With her success, she has become a female leader within the village, helping bring a new time of balance and respect for the women. She has since successfully encouraged her other female relatives to participate in spiritual diets.

We are blessed to have these two powerful women coming together online for the first time. Together we can all access the Spirit of Transformation they have cultivated through their spiritual diets and the revolutionising of their culture.

+ Who are the Yawanawá

The Yawanawá are the People of the Wild Boar from the Brazilian state of Acre, deep within the Amazon Rainforest down the River Gregorio.

Despite many outside threats, these original people thrived in Brazil’s Amazon Rainforest for thousands of years. When contact with non-indigenous was made, they spent over 100 years in slavery. Due to this, a long period of time passed when the younger generations did not learn their native language as well as much of their ancestral traditional practices.

In the late 70s, the Yawanawá peacefully freed themselves and sanctified their land in the state of Brazil. Within the Yawanawá Village of Mutum, the home of Kenewma, her Grandfather Chief Tuikuru chose to empower his daughters and through this, a great feminine leadership grew.

As the voices of the women gained respect, so too did the harmony between men and women within the villages grow.

Over the past 50 years, the Yawanawá have been reclaiming their ancient spiritual practices, traditions, and ways of life. They work to preserve the forest not only for themselves but also for the world. The Yawanawâ invite people from all walks of life to visit, to learn and encourage cultural exchange for the growth and preservation of their spirituality and also of our planet.

+ What's the time investment?

You should expect to dedicate around two hours per week; however, the prayer is daily and the intention of why you are doing this course is always.

+ Are men allowed?

Yes, anyone of any identification is most welcome to be in this course.

+ Who is Global Sisterhood?

Global Sisterhood is a movement centered around transformation. We are about going deep, doing healing work, and transforming cultural, familial, and societal wounding so we can rise as new paradigm leaders inspiring growth and awakening wherever we go.

What you are supporting in this study: Centro Awavana

Centro Awavãna began as a dream of Hushahu’s father Tuîkuru. He dreamt of a space like a museum in the middle of the rainforest, inside of which to place all the arts, crafts, and sacred objects that form the treasures of the Yawanawá people. A space to preserve the richness of this tradition and to represent a path for future generations who want to study their heritage.

In 2021 Hushahu began to realize this dream by birthing Centro Awavãna. A model of sustainability and food sovereignty within indigenous communities.

It holds a dedication to keeping the tradition alive inside of the tribe. A school where the youth of the village come to study all that their ancestors left behind. Passing these treasures down to the next generation in a form that is true to their roots. Centro Awavãna opens its doors to the sharing of indigenous wisdom with the Western world. The vision is to create a space structured for visitors to feel safe and held without sacrificing their connection to the rainforest.

It is also committed to the preservation of the Yawanawá arts and crafts. For in order to preserve the Yawanawá tradition in a complete form, the arts are important and necessary. Centro Awavãna is also focused on the preservation of the rainforest & a movement towards more sustainable practices.
